The Austin Woman's Club purchased the 11,000 square foot Chateau Bellevue (then known as the "Old North Castle") in 1929 for $36,000 and has been maintaining its preservation for close to 100 years! The Austin Woman's Club was built on faith and a constant awareness of women’s responsibility in the molding of a city’s culture. Founded in 1929, the mission of the
Austin Woman’s Club is to preserve the historical and architectural heritage of the North-Evans Chateau (Chateau Bellevue) and to serve the public through community service, including educational, civic and social activities. Membership is open to all women (without regard to race, creed, or color) who support and will actively pursue the mission of the Austin Woman’s Club.
